Creating outdoor learning environments has become increasingly important for schools, giving pupils the opportunity to learn, read and collaborate outside the traditional classroom. Recently, our team completed the installation of a bespoke timber outdoor classroom gazebo for a primary school in Bingley, providing a sheltered and welcoming space for pupils to enjoy outdoor education throughout the year.
A Purpose-Built Outdoor Learning Space
The school wanted a durable structure that could be used for a variety of activities including:
Outdoor lessons
Reading and group work
Forest school sessions
Quiet wellbeing space for pupils
To achieve this, we designed and built a large 6m octagonal timber gazebo that provides protection from both sun and rain while still maintaining an open, airy feel.
The structure features integrated bench seating around the perimeter, allowing a full class of children to sit comfortably while teachers lead activities in the centre of the space.
Durable, High-Quality Timber Construction
As with all of our outdoor structures, this gazebo was built using pressure treated structural timber designed for long-term durability and minimal maintenance.

Solid timber post and beam construction
Pressure treated timber for weather protection
Integrated bench seating around the inside
Half-height timber cladding for added shelter
Shingle roof covering for a traditional finish
The design ensures the outdoor classroom remains safe, practical and robust enough for daily school use.
